Materials and texture are primary in my work. I use materials with histories--salvaged steel and wood, river stones--to evoke feelings that new things can’t. The effects of time echo through all my work: rich colors and textures deep or fine or curious all wrought by the hand of time. I use also textures and colors created by metalworking tools. Most of these are ground off in the process of metal fabrication and never seen in finished work. But the blues and golds of burnt steel, the ragged edges and drippy surfaces of melted steel, the zig-zag cracks and sheen or charred oak--these are some of the lost beauty that remains in the works on this site.
